Everybody Digs Bill Evans released in 1959 is a spectacular early work from the Bill Evans trio consisting of Evans, Sam Jones and Philly Joe Jones. Everybody Digs Bill Evans is an album by jazz musician Bill Evans. It was released in early 1959 on the Riverside label. Everybody Digs Bill Evans was Evans's second album, done two years after his first record as a leader. Though his producer Orrin Keepnews had wanted Evans to record a follow-up album to his debut sooner, the self-critical Evans felt he had nothing new to say before this album. Everybody Digs Bill Evans was a landmark recording for the young pianist and sported a unique album cover, featuring written-out endorsements from Miles Davis, George Shearing, Ahmad Jamal, and Cannonball Adderley. At a time approximate to when Evans was performing with the famous Kind of Blue band of Davis, Adderley, and John Coltrane, and actually departing the band, Evans continued to play the trio music he was ultimately best known for. With the unmatched pair of former Miles Davis drummer Philly Joe Jones and bassist Sam Jones no relation, Evans was emerging not only as an ultra-sensiti. Everybody Digs Bill Evans LP, Album, RE. Evans' 1958 LP was the artist's second album, done two years after his first record New Jazz Conceptions as a leader. Even though his producer tried to encourage him to record again sooner, the highly self-critical Evans felt he had nothing new to say before this album. The album contains three Evans compositions, including one of his most famous, Peace Piece, a two-chord improvisation which many consider a forerunner of what became known later as New Age mus. With its varied tempos, rhythms and programming, Everybody Digs Bill Evans sustains interest without allowing the listener for a moment to mistake the singular, inimitable voice of the leader.
